To transform lives one move at a time through chess. We do this through not only teaching chess, but teaching the strategic thinking and planning that can be used in everyday life.  

The Chess Academy and Mentoring Center began in the slums of Kampala, Uganda when SOM soccer coach, Robert Katende, noticed children watching from the sidelines of soccer matches he had organized. Robert started with only five children and now has over 300 who gather daily across five separate slum locations. 

We at Sports Outreach will be intentional to see that our mission, programs and staff will embrace and incorporate strategies that are : Practical. Sustainable. Burden Lifting.

Everyday people suffer – we don’t believe it should be that way! Therefore, responding to God’s call to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with those less fortunate, Sports Outreach employs an effective holistic model to change the world by restoring hope and transforming lives!
